As happy GC locals (and Gold Coast wedding photographers) we have all the inside knowledge of the things that make it such an outstanding place.
As part of the longest city in the southern hemisphere (go here for Brisbane Wedding Photographer), the Gold Coast is truly unique.
The original experience where surf and sea meets city is unlike any other place in Australia.
You often hear this about certain destination wedding locations – but there really is something for everyone’s idea of a perfect day.
If you’re planning a special day all you really need to do is choose a theme and find a wedding venue to suit.
Plus, geographically speaking, everything is relatively central. You can stay near the beach and have a Gold Coast Hinterland wedding. Or have your ceremony at the sea with a beach wedding. Then stay in a luxury hotel afterwards. Sounds good to us!
There are many beautiful locations on the Gold Coast to choose from. It’s a big place, so it most depends on what kind of setting you want to choose for your special day.
We’ll be adding some of our favourite venues to this page as we go. So be sure to check back.
There are lots of nice seaside locations for a ceremony! Just make sure to grab a permit from the Council before you plan your event – Beach Wedding Permit.
Whether you’re bringing your entire guest list or are newlyweds on a honeymoon, there’s plenty of things to do and see on the Gold Coast.
If you have any kind of travel involved in getting to your destination wedding, consider making the most of your trip and adding some fun activities to your wedding planning checklist.
Relaxing at the beach, getting a spa treatment, taking in some drinks wiht a sea view, enjoying the nightlife, luxury shopping, fine dining and lots more. There are plenty of relaxing things for couples to do.
But if you’re looking for fun activities you’ve got a lot of choice. Think plenty of nature tourism in the gorgeous national parks, visiting breathtaking waterfalls, seeing local wildlife, four different theme-parks (Movie World, Dream World, Wet’n’Wild) climbing the tallest building in Australia, seaside picnics, water activities, and lots more.
The Gold Coast is only 80KM from Brisbane, so it’s just a short drive away (approximately 45 mins to 1 hour) from the closest international airport.
Getting to the Gold Coast from within Australia is very easy and convenient these days with many flight options available. The most popular carriers flying to the Gold Coast are Jetstar and Qantas for their low affordable costs and flight frequency.
If you’re already in Queensland or are arriving at a port, you may want to consider renting a car if you’ll get some good use out of it. The cost of train tickets on the airport line or getting something like an Uber or Taxi can be expensive anyway, especially if you plan to get about.
Many visitors to the Gold Coast choose to stay in a fairly central location, such as Broadbeach, Surfers Paradise or Burleigh. These locations are all right next to the beach, have plenty of food and drink available, and offer a great range of accommodation to choose from, from Air BnB, hotel, to long term holiday accomodation.
We’re a Gold Coast wedding photographers and we live here, too! But we also photograph events in all around Australia.
Yes, we are certainly able to make gorgeous wedding videos. Visit our wedding videography page here.
No, we don’t charge to travel within South East Queensland – within 2 hours from the Gold Coast.
These days destination wedding photography is becoming more of a trend for a lot of people, so we’re happy to pack a bag to attend your event.
If you’re planning a destination wedding we usually just ask to cover the cost of flights. We’ll organise accommodation and other expenses.
We’ll be writing more about all things wedding photography planning and travel on our Blog, so be sure to check in from time to time.
That’s a hard one! We love the beach, but the hills have our heart. With so many great wedding venues in the Gold Coast Hinterland you’re not short of options. Plus, you can get some beautiful scenery and a better environment for an all day wedding with lots of greenery and shade.
It started with photographing a family friend’s wedding and grew from there. But we had been into photography for a long time before that after working in marketing, fashion, and as a professional photographer.
We had TONNES of fun at that wedding and as they say, “the rest is history”. Fast forward to a few years and we still love making photos an videos that our customers get to cherish forever. It’s very special to be part of something so wonderful.
So, the answer is because weddings are great fun! It’s lovely to be a part of such a happy event where everyone is enjoying themselves and celebrating the love of two people.
